About.

All over the world, geopolitical instability, climate shocks and technological transformation are driving rapid change in global and local economies.  To keep up, businesses and policy makers need up-to-the-minute, high resolution data to steer investment decisions or appraise policy options.

Existing sources – business surveys, official statistics – are slow, backward-looking and insufficiently granular.

Elixr is forging a new approach to the production of business intelligence.

We profile company behaviour based on their online activities, providing national, regional and firm-level data
across a growing range of metrics.

How are companies investing in their digital presence?
Who is innovating new products and services?
How are businesses responding to policy frameworks like ESG or DEI?

Elixr’s insights apply to a wide range of use cases:

Businesses
Develop a richer, more up-to-date understanding of local economic conditions, and benchmark your own performance against your geographic and sectoral peers.

Policymakers
Access the freshest market intelligence for your region, evaluate the effects of past policy initiatives and appraise the possible impacts of new interventions.

Researchers and Journalists
Investigate economic trends as they unfold in near real-time, study the impacts of major events like COVID-19 or price inflation, formulate new queries to put to our data.

The data on this site is based on a representative sample of over 5,000 Welsh companies, weighted to reflect the business population of each of Wales’s 22 unitary authorities.

Every four weeks, we publish a new edition from our portfolio of metrics, alongside regular deep dives into pressing socioeconomic issues.
